iPhone, iPad, Android on the battlefield

iPhones, iPads and Android phones with new applications will soon be aiding the U.S. military on the battlefield.

The apps are being designed to deliver messages in real time regarding battlefield operations – like bombings, ground fighting and instant maps – while troops are on patrol. Other interesting App ideas will allow troops to send photos of suspected insurgents to be checked against a database. The wireless phones will send the data through a secured command center, developers say.
