At Nebraska Watchdog, former Omaha reporter Joe Jordan writes of an interesting statement Cain made to him in 1994: “[W]hile he was embarrassed to admit it, on Election Day, 1992 Cain had voted for the Clinton-Gore ticket.”
Jordan goes on to write, “According to J. D. Gordon, Cain’s vice-president of communications, Clinton was the last Democratic candidate for President that Cain supported.”

Gordon, when contacted by The Examiner, denied in an email that he told Jordan that “Clinton was the last Democratic candidate that Cain supported.”
I spoke with Jordan earlier on the phone about this story, and he reaffirmed that he interviewed Cain days after his famous televised clash with Bill Clinton on health care in 1994. During his interview with Jordan, Cain admitted that he had voted for Clinton in 1992. Jordan reported that fact for CBS affiliate KMTV in Omaha, and Cain never disputed it.
As for the question of Gordon’s denial, Jordan clarified: Gordon neither confirmed or denied his report of Cain’s support of Clinton, but rather said that Cain joined Jack Kemp in 1996.
