Following a day of testimony from Attorney General Eric Holder,House Oversight and Government Reforms Chair Darrell Issa, R-Calif., criticized Holder and the Department Justice (DOJ) for creating a gun control crisis, through Operation Fast and Furious, and then using the negative results as reason for tighter gun control laws.
“There is a ‘Rahm Emanuel moment’ that’s pretty obvious,” Issa told Sean Hannity last night. “When this disaster was happening, they decided to be opportunists and use it to expand the gun database that they are now executing by their own regulations in four states, and asking Congress to expand nationally.”
Emanuel, President Obama’s former chief of staff and current Chicago Mayor, famously said that politicians should “never allow a crisis to go to waste.”
Issa added that “very clearly, they made a crisis, and they’re using this crisis to somehow take away or limit people’s Second Amendment rights.”
