During a fundraiser in New York City Monday night, President Obama explained that he was anxious to accomplish important legislation in his second term.
“I want to get some stuff done. I don’t have a lot of time,” Obama said. “I’ve got three and a half years left, and it goes by like that.”
The president told donors that he was annoyed with the culture in Washington.
“The only thing that’s holding us back — is a spirit in Washington that isn’t reflective of the spirit of the American people; a spirit in Washington that’s more interested in game-playing than getting things done,” he explained.
Obama added that he was much more successful during his first term, thanks to Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who also attended the fundraiser.
“But what I also say is that during those two years that Nancy Pelosi was speaker, man, we got a lot of stuff done,” he said as the crowd applauded.
