Perry will face immigration questions tonight

Charlie Rose, PBS host and a moderator of tonight’s GOP debate in New Hampshire, previewed questions he intends to ask that might prove troubling to Texas Gov. Rick Perry, R.

“Gov. Perry says he’s going to announce his [economic] plan on Friday, we’ll try to push him on that,” Rose said. Rose also promised “questions of immigration that affect the economy.”

The Washington Examiner’s Byron York wrote this morning that both lines of questioning might provide some difficulty for Perry, whose campaign “won’t be disappointed if the debate moderators steer away from [illegal immigration].”

Rose also acknowledged that the moderators would “absolutely” ask the presidential candidates about the Occupy Wall Street protests. “It seems to be a growing phenomenon,” Rose said, wondering “what does it say about some of the despair in the country?” In particular, Rose said that the candidates would have to field questions pertaining to “disparity of income.”
