Obama’s five-year plan for homelessness

I never like to be the first to say such things, so I let Chris Matthews draw the Jimmy Carter comparisons after President Obama’s speech last night. But I just got this press release from the White House, and I don’t know if I can stop myself:

ADVISORY: Obama Administration to Unveil National Strategic Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Tuesday, June 22, the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH) will release the nation’s first comprehensive strategy to prevent and end homelessness.

Now, don’t laugh. I know we’ve never solved homelessness, but we’ve never had anyone as smart as Barack Obama try to tackle this problem before.

And don’t think of it as an attempt to distract from the oil spill. Perhaps he plans to hire the homeless population to clean it up.
