Poll: Gingrich helps Obama in Fla.

President Obama gains six points in Florida if he faces Newt Gingrich rather than Mitt Romney in the general election, according to a new poll that shows him with a strong lead over Gingrich in the swing state.

Obama polls in Florida at 44 percent, one point behind Mitt Romney. “But if Newt Gingrich is the Republican nominee it’s a completely different story,” according to Public Policy Polling (PPP), a Democrat-leaning polling firm. “Obama leads him 50-44 in a head to head.”
