Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, called President Obama “stupid” today, which resulted in Obama campaign strategist David Axelrod comparing the senator to a 6-year-old child.
“Constituents askd why i am not outraged at PresO attack on supreme court independence. Bcause Am ppl r not stupid as this x prof of con law,” Grassley tweeted Saturday in his inimitable way. Translation: “Constituents asked why I am not outraged at President Obama’s attack on Supreme Court independence. It’s because the American people are not as stupid as this ex-professor of constitutional law.”
Axelrod punched back. “Heads up, Sen. Grassley,” he tweeted. “I think a 6-year-old hijacked your account and is sending out foolish Tweets just to embarrass you!”
Grassley was presumably referring to Obama’s argument that it would be “unprecedented” for the Supreme Court to overturn Obamacare.
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said today that he was not aware of the Grassley-Axelrod exchange.
