Santorum: Ron Paul nom would “give me indigestion”

GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum said on Sunday that though he’d be able to support any fellow Republican against President Obama, if Rep. Ron Paul, R-Tex, were the nominee, he’d have to take an antacids.

Appearing on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” Santorum hammered away at Herman Cain for his support for the Wall Street bailout and a national sales tax, and recent statements on gun control and abortion that he said that raised questions about whether Cain was a “conviction conservative.”

When host Bob Schieffer asked  if he could support Cain or Mitt Romney (who he’s also criticized), were they nominees, Santorum said, “Absolutely, I’d support anybody in the Republican field.”

He then added this caveat: “Ron Paul would give me a little indigestion, I’d have to take antacids on foreign policy, but other than that, no.”

Santorum said, “They’re far superior in many other ways than this president. I would have no problem supporting them.”

Though he emphasized, “There’s a better candidate out in the field Bob, and you’re talking to him this morning.”
