Republicans are usually the first to scream about political correctness — don’t deny it! But Sarah Palin is on Rahm Emanuel’s case after the Wall Street Journal quoted him calling liberal groups opposed to health care reform “F-ing retarded.”
Ouch!
From her ready perch on Facebook, Palin is fighting back, saying Rahm may be known for being “caustic (and) crude”, but Obama needs to “show decency” and fire him. It’s true that “retard” has had an unfortunate pop culture resurgence in the past decade. But Palin, the mother of a child with Down Syndrome, said it’s not OK.
“Just as we’d be appalled if any public figure of Rahm’s stature ever used the “N-word” or other such inappropriate language, Rahm’s slur on all God’s children with cognitive and developmental disabilities – and the people who love them – is unacceptable, and it’s heartbreaking,” Palin wrote.
