Dig in! (AP)
After heading to suburban Northern Virginia for a cheeseburger with Vice President Joe Biden a few weeks ago, President Obama went to urban southeast DC for his patty fix this week. From the AP:
“President Barack Obama made a surprise lunchtime stop at Five Guys, a fast-food restaurant in southeast Washington.
The president ordered a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, jalapeno peppers, and mustard as well as several other cheeseburgers to go. He also ordered a cheeseburger for Brian Williams, anchor for NBC. The network was filming a day-in-the-life program at the White House.
Early this month, Obama and Vice President Joe Biden took a short motorcade ride from the White House to Virginia and ordered lunch at a small independent restaurant called Ray’s Hell Burger.”
The man knows his burgers — Ray’s Hell and Five Guys are two of the top spots in town for the Stirewalt family, and Mrs. Stirewalt definitely doesn’t mess around with a whimpy burger. But the president — whose first meal on Air Force One was also a cheeseburger — needs to broaden it out on the grease front. Where’s the BBQ? Some pizza, maybe? Question: Doesn’t Brian Williams seem more like a Morningstar guy to you?
UPDATE:
I have already been reliably informed that Williams is a regular guy from New Jersey who would probably love a good, greasy burger. I am open to this possibility, but would like to see further proof of his red meat ways.
UPDATE II:
The pool report is in and yes, it seems that Williams’ order was a cheeseburger with ketchup and French fries. I stand corrected. Maybe that means Williams is going to really put Obama in the hot seat for his interview after all. Well, let’s not get carried away.
