Donald Trump earned the scorn of the White House for the second time in a year, this time when the president’s spokesman slammed him for his birtherism.

“One man’s attempt to draw attention to himself by engaging in this kind of ridiculousness doesn’t really change what Americans [care about],” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said when asked about Trump’s persistent belief that Obama was not born in the United States.
Obama mocked Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner last year after he released his birth certificate, which Trump attributed to the pressure he himself put on the White House. “No one is prouder to put this birth certificate matter to rest than ‘the Donald,'” Obama said, at the time, as he equated speculation about his birth place to conspiracy theories about the moon landing.
