Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on Friday morning, praised President Trump for ordering the killing of Iranian terrorist leader Qassim Soleimani, which he said was entirely justified in self-defense.
“Just as Israel has the right of self-defense, the United States has exactly the same right,” Netanyahu said in a statement. “Qassem Soleimani is responsible for the death of American citizens and many other innocent people. He was planning more such attacks.”
He said, “President [Trump] deserves all the credit for acting swiftly, forcefully and decisively. Israel stands with the United States in its just struggle for peace, security and self-defense.”
Netanyahu has reason to celebrate the elimination of Soleimani. The Iranian regime is the leading threat to Israel, and his death deprives the terror state of its most important and talented commander. Most directly, Soleimani led the strategy of providing help to Iran’s proxies surrounding Israel — the terrorist groups Hezbollah to the north and Hamas to the south.
