There’s no question the Democratic Party has moved far to the left in recent years, but its radicalization has become far more aggressive, to the point that the party is unrecognizable from two years ago.
Just over one month into the 118th Congress, House
Democrats
have shown the public who they really are: A number of them openly opposed a resolution condemning socialism, and all of them supported President Joe Biden’s plan to hire 87,000 new IRS agents who will undoubtedly go on to target the middle class and small businesses.
CAN NIKKI HALEY WIN THE GOP PRIMARY?
Even Democrats who claim to be centrist have downplayed the extremism from their own colleagues. For example, they have defended Rep.
Ilhan Omar
(D-MN) repeatedly despite her antisemitic attacks.
Following Omar’s rhetoric attacking Jewish people and our ally Israel, House Republicans voted for Omar’s removal from the Foreign Affairs Committee. Yet Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) allowed his most radical members, including Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), to make impassioned speeches on the House floor in her defense, which, of course, made no mention of Omar’s tropes about how Jews are
“all about the Benjamins”
and Israel has committed
“unthinkable atrocities”
in the same vein as the Taliban.
Ultimately, every House Democrat voted to keep Omar on the Foreign Affairs Committee and, in doing so, threw their support behind Omar’s hate-filled comments.
On the same day, House Republicans also voted to condemn the horrors of socialism. Rather than join this effort, Jeffries said the quiet part out loud: He claimed the resolution would
“undermine”
House Democrats’ agenda. They are no longer even attempting to hide their plans to turn America into a socialist wasteland.
As crime rates soar across our country, House Democrats
refused
to
condemn the decriminalization of violent offenses
— including carjackings, home invasion burglaries, robberies, and even homicides — by Washington, D.C., voting against a resolution that would strike down the city council’s efforts to rewrite the city’s criminal code. They also
turned their back
on a basic tenet of democracy and backed a scheme allowing noncitizens to vote.
Worse still, House Democrats abandoned the middle class and entrepreneurs by voting to expand the size and scope of the
IRS
. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said the decision to hire 87,000 new IRS agents would cause “rates to rise for all taxpayers” and pave the way for an additional 700,000 audits of taxpayers making $75,000 per year or less. But when given the opportunity to join with House Republicans and repeal the mass hiring of new tax agents, Democrats refused. Every hardworking taxpayer ought to be outraged.
Finally, when Republicans introduced a bill that would guarantee medical care for a child born alive after an attempted abortion, House Democrats overwhelmingly voted against it. No child should be left to die on a medical tray. But that’s what Democrats voted for.
As Democrats continue to move to the left, House Republicans are pursuing a bold agenda that lowers inflation, reduces energy costs, secures America’s border, gives
law enforcement
the tools they need to keep our communities safe, empowers parents, and protects life. To most people, that sounds like common sense. But Democrats are dead-set against it.
As chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, it is my job to grow our House majority by exposing Democrats’ radical agenda. They are giving Republicans a lot to work with.
