Since my graduation from the University of Southern California, I’ve learned all about how the school covered up the crimes of the campus gynecologist who molested my friends and how officials accepted bribes to admit the dimwitted daughters of washed-up celebrities. Here’s another story worthy of the hellscape that is the South Central campus: The University of Spoiled Children just bullied a black woman into resigning from her post as a senator of the undergraduate student government.
In the wake of George Floyd’s death in police custody, a nation already stressed and idle came out to protest for police reform. Unfortunately, the incident also became a call to arms for the wokest, whitest, and most privileged people in America to drown out black voices with hashtags and black squares that show how non-problematic they are.
So it should come as no surprise that the latest target of the woke mob at USC is Isabel Washington, a health promotion and disease prevention major who, according to a university-affiliated website, “hopes to do health policy governmental work.” The most cursory Google search of Washington portrays a woman supportive of public health, LGBT representation, cancer research, and the Jewish community.
Oh, but wait. That last point sounds problematic. The scalping began with campus wokes calling for the impeachment of the USG’s president, who stood accused in anonymous Instagram posts of referring to black students as “my people” and making black students feel “uncomfortable with his jokes and use of certain names.” Shortly after calls for the president’s head arose, so did calls for USG senators Washington and Nathaniel Manor. A Change.org petition signed by nearly 700 people says of the supposed “anti-Black” — again, remember, she’s black — and “anti-Palestinian” Washington:
The evidence? A dossier compiled by people who clearly have neither friends nor a job, depicting a few screenshots of Washington allegedly joking that she’d be canceled for visiting Israel and supporting the only Middle Eastern democracy’s statehood, as well as a few text screenshots joking that not owning the new iPhone means someone is poor. In short, the case is pretty weak.
As one would predict after an online mob threatens to get you expelled, Washington cowered and resigned from her USG post. She probably saw no alternative, given that the supposed straight news reporters at the campus’s paper the Daily Trojan described obvious jokes and the totally defensible support of Israeli statehood as “classist, racist and crude messages.”
#BREAKING: @USCUSG Senator Isabel Washington resigned her position Wednesday following a post on Instagram account Black at USC claiming that she engaged in racial misconduct as well as the circulation of text screenshots conveying classist, fatphobic and crude sentiments.

Students for Justice in Palestine, the group of bored bullies who orchestrated her cancellation, are described by the Trojan’s “reporter” as a “national organization and student movement dedicated to the promotion of justice, human rights and self-determination for Palestinian people.”
As the last few months of outright anarchy, looting, shootings, arson, and mob firings have proven, we all live on campus now. Normally, I would end a snapshot like this with a takeaway or analysis. But for today, there is no point of hope or progress, other than to note that if wealthy white folks can get a young black woman canceled for supporting Israel and cracking a few jokes in private text messages, then no one is safe.
