House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, celebrated Friday’s House vote passing a continuing resolution budget with language that would defund Obamacare.
“We had a victory today for the American people,” Boehner said. “We also had a victory for common sense.”
Boehner pointed out that Obamacare was a “train wreck” that was hurting American families and businesses.
The measure now goes to the Senate for a vote.
“Our message to the United States Senate is simple,” Boehner said. “The American people don’t want the government shut down, and they don’t want Obamacare.”
