If you’ve been paying any attention at all to the world of hip-hop music, the legendary New York rap group, the Wu-Tang Clan, is in the midst of a battle with the feds to get back their one-of-a-kind album, “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin.”
The album, of which there’s only one copy, was purchased for $2 million by now-convicted felon and former CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals Martin Shkreli. Following his arrest, Shkreli was forced to forfeit $7.4 million in assets, including the Wu-Tang album.
Enter former FBI Director James Comey.
According to Ghostface Killah’s (born Dennis Coles) Instagram account, Comey posed for a photo with both Ghost and Method Man (born Clifford Smith) backstage at Tuesday’s taping of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”
Ghostface’s caption read: “Me and my brother @methodmanofficial Workin on getting that album back from the feds… wu Tang forever @comey.”
With all due respect to Ghostface and Meth, aligning yourself with the FBI director that President Trump fired for a multitude of reasons — but, most of all, a lack of confidence — is the last thing you want to do when litigating with the federal government about the fate of your one-of-a-kind album.
The only thing that might hurt the Wu-Tang’s chances more than Comey in dealing with the Department of Justice is getting a photo with Hillary Clinton.
Careful, Ghost and Meth. Millions of fans want to listen to your group’s album. Don’t squander it now.
