In yet another attack on Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s position on immigration, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is drawing comparisons between Perry and the governor of Maryland, one of the bluest state’s in the country.
In a new web video titled, “They Agree,” the Romney campaign blasts the “Perry-Obama-O’Malley” stance on illegal immigration. The campaign released the video on the same day that Perry plans to attend a fundraiser in Baltimore on Tuesday evening, where tickets cost $2,500.
“@GovernorOMalley and Maryland welcome you,” Romney tweeted to Perry on Tuesday, with a link to the video. “You’ll fit right in.”
O’Malley signed a bill into law this year that grants illegal immigrants lower tuition rates to Maryland colleges and universities, which is similar to the law that Perry implemented in Texas.
The video plays a clip of O’Malley commending Perry for his position on immigration.
“One thing I do like about Perry, I do like the fact that he recognizes fair is fair,” O’Malley says. What Romney fails to mention, however, is that Perry and O’Malley would disagree on nearly everything else.
