Free speech does not exist outside of the United States, especially not in the United Kingdom. Transgender activists and even some Democratic politicians want to make our country more like the latter.
Comedian Graham Linehan was arrested after arriving in London this past weekend. His crime was three tweets: one criticizing transgender activists, one criticizing transgender women in women’s locker rooms, and one mocking transgender activists for lacking personal hygiene. As Linehan said, “I was arrested at an airport like a terrorist, locked in a cell like a criminal, taken to hospital because the stress nearly killed me, and banned from speaking online — all because I made jokes that upset some psychotic crossdressers.”

That is because free speech doesn’t exist in the U.K., despite Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s claims to the contrary. According to the Times of London, British police make about 12,000 arrests per year under the country’s censorious “Malicious Communications Act 1988,” which makes it illegal to send or post messages that are “indecent or grossly offensive” that “cause distress or anxiety.”
Again, that is not the kind of law that ever even exists in a country that protects free speech. There is no free speech in the U.K.
The American Left wants to adopt this same framework, at the behest of the same transgender activists trying to get Linehan jailed. Not long after this arrest, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) asserted that “there is no free speech crisis in Britain.” In his view, arresting people for offending transgender activists is apparently not a free speech violation, and arresting tens of thousands of people for mean posts online is apparently not a “free speech crisis.”
Raskin thinks there is a “free speech crisis” in America today. Read into that what you will.

You may also recall that the Biden administration pressured social media companies to censor users over COVID-19 “misinformation.” Rachel Levine, the second-ranking official at Biden’s Health and Human Services Department, similarly wanted social media to censor people who advocated against sex changes for children. Levine said that allowing dissent against the position of transgender activists was “dangerous to the public health.” The Biden administration was rife with attempts, both successful and failed, to impose censorship on Americans.
These top Democrats would not hesitate to impose an American censorship regime similar to that of the U.K. There is no free speech in the U.K., and there is no desire for free speech in the transgender-obsessed, “disinformation”-focused Democratic Party.
