President Obama hasn’t made many pals among the galaxy of foreign leaders. Unlike his predecessor, he has no big love for Sarkozy. He hasn’t clicked with Merkel. He and Cameron are huffy over the BP stuff. Karzai is a problem and let’s not even discuss the Italians. The European Union leaders are OK but kind of boring.
But Dmitry Medvedev! The wee Russian leader got the ultimate gesture of friendship from Obama today. They went to Ray’s Hell Burger for lunch.

Obama ordered cheddar-cheeseburger, onions, lettuce, tomato, and bread-and-butter pickles. He also had iced tea.
Medvedev ordered cheddar-cheeseburger with onions, jalapenos and mushrooms. He also had a coke.
They shared fries.
Awwww!! Beltway never shares fries. Could this be love? From the photo it kind of looks like Dmitry is hoarding the fries. A metaphor for U.S./Russian relations?

One of the features of the presidency is that they never carry money (or keys). Why would they? It’s not like they pay tolls or buy stuff.
I guess we know who paid (Reggie Love?) The White House said it was Obama’s treat. We hope so! Medvedev is a guest.
