House Speaker John Boehner has rejected a request from C-SPAN to aim its own cameras at members during action on the House floor.
C-SPAN for years has been making this request, arguing that the fixed cameras now operated by the House reveal only a limited picture of what is happening in the House.

C-SPAN’s Brian Lamb wrote Boehner soon after the November elections to appeal for “a few, small robotically operated cameras” in the chamber.
But, following in the footsteps of every single speaker since Newt Gingrich, Boehner, R-Ohio, said no to the request.
Boehner said in a letter to Lamb that he believes “the American people — and the dignity and decorum of the House of Representatives — are best served by the current system.”
Boehner’s decision follows his announcement that he may at times allow members of the media to broadcast from the House chamber at certain times and would allow cameras in more hallways outside of the chamber.
Lamb said he is disappointed with the decision.
