The “No Kings” protests are the culmination of years of left-wing activism merging into a single amorphous blob. It is an indictment of the Democratic Party, which clearly has nothing to offer to voters.
Millions of left-wing activists took to the streets with no discernible unifying message other than opposing President Donald Trump. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) claimed that the rally was about loving America, only to share the stage at the Washington D.C. protest with activist Afeni Evans, who openly hates America. Angela Davis, who purchased guns used in a terrorist attack where a judge was murdered, spoke at the San Francisco rally. Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) used the protests to push his reelection campaign, draping himself in a transgender flag and trying to demonize his Democratic primary opponent, Rep. Seth Moulton.

The protests themselves are pointless, predicated on the same tired left-wing mantra that Trump is some unique threat to democracy. Unlike other ridiculous left-wing protests such as the March for Our Lives (gun control) or the Women’s March (abortion), the “No Kings” protests have no focus. It is just an excuse to get Democrats who protest as a hobby out on the streets again, conveniently timed just a few weeks before struggling Democratic candidates face voters in statewide elections in Virginia and New Jersey.
The directionless nature of the protest nicely reflects the Democratic Party being lost at political sea, as it has been since last November. Senate Democrats chose to shut down the government over taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal immigrants. Congressional Democrats have been on the backfoot for months now, pandering to Hamas supporters (sure enough, Palestinian flags were on display at these protests) and illegal immigrants. They have protested against the deportations of criminal illegal immigrants, pretended that there was no crime crisis in Washington D.C., and has now pivoted back to saying the GOP is going to kill people over healthcare policy.

It is no surprise then that the Democratic Party is historically unpopular among voters. The one figure that (some) Democrats are now rallying around is an antisemitic communist running for mayor in New York City, whose biggest appeal is that he smiles while campaigning.
This is why the “No Kings” protest is the dumbest, most pointless protest of the Trump era. It is the Democratic Party’s attempt to spin enthusiasm over something — anything — to get mediocre candidates over the finish line in New Jersey and Virginia and give the party something resembling upward momentum going into the 2026 midterm elections. A few million left-wing activists wasted their Saturday protesting for nothing in particular, because they have no guiding moral principles other than hating Donald Trump.
