Former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has become the scapegoat for the cover-up of former President Joe Biden‘s health, as Democrats and liberal media turn on her to try and pretend that they weren’t part of that exact same cover-up.
Jean-Pierre is on a book tour for her book, Independent, and it is going predictably poorly. This is happening for two reasons. The first is that Jean-Pierre was the press secretary for Biden when his reelection campaign imploded after a terrible debate. The second is that Jean-Pierre is terrible at communicating, which is why she read practically every answer during her tenure at the podium from a binder.

Her book is now being panned by liberal media outlets, including the Washington Post and New York Magazine. Former Biden officials and current Democratic strategists ran to left-wing outlets such as Politico and Axios to bash Jean-Pierre’s book and her job performance, most of whom did so anonymously. Politico framed the criticism as follows: “Some former officials are hopeful that Jean-Pierre’s book will serve as just a reminder of the last administration’s issues and not a representation of the whole Democratic party.”
Here is how one anonymous official described it: “It’s a clear reminder of the communications struggles within the administration that included Karine but also included the president and vice president.” And now you know the game.

When Jean-Pierre was in her previous position, reciting “answers” out of a binder instead of actually answering questions, she was praised by many of these same people as a historic figure, the first black gay woman press secretary. Now that Biden lost, and it happened while Jean-Pierre was the administration’s mouthpiece, she can be thrown under the bus as part of the problem, part of the “communications struggles” that “also included the president and vice president” and led to Donald Trump waltzing back into the White House.
Jean-Pierre is now the sacrificial lamb whom Democrats and liberal media will heap their scorn onto and pretend it amounts to full accountability for the Biden years. They were her allies in maintaining the messaging that Biden was fine, competent, and capable of serving another four years (and that she was anything other than a DEI “historic” hire), and now they can pretend that her clear incompetence was the real reason things played out as they did. Democrats piling on Jean-Pierre are hoping to avoid any further evaluation of the cover-up of Biden’s health, which is why all this criticism of her is being shared now instead of back then.
