Trump’s deranged statement gives Rob Reiner the last laugh

In light of the horrific news of Hollywood legend Rob Reiner’s tragic murder at the alleged hands of his son and President Donald Trump’s equally horrific response, two things are true:

The first is that Reiner’s Trump Derangement Syndrome was among the worst recorded cases in history. Reiner’s social media feed reflected a troubled mind and a tortured soul. His rabid obsession with the man was indistinguishable from parody — the president utterly dominated his thinking. Reiner’s obsessive anti-Trump posting more often backfired because it made Trump appear calm and normal by comparison.

It’s also true that Trump’s statement about Reiner’s death quite possibly ranks atop the list of most abominable utterances ever made by a U.S. president. It is difficult to capture the ugliness of Trump’s statement, given the timing, merely half a day after the vicious murder, and given the terrible details we’ve learned about the killing.

Normal people don’t gloat over the still-warm dead bodies of men seemingly murdered by their sons. But that’s just what Trump did Monday. And the world’s jaw dropped with disgust, including most of the Make America Great Again-sphere.

“A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood,” Trump wrote. “Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS. He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”

The president appears to be saying here that Reiner’s gruesome death amounts to cosmic retribution. The crime? Hating Trump. That’s an X-ray into a very dark soul. Even stranger, Trump considered it appropriate to grandstand about his “Golden Age” in the very same post.

TRUMP BLAMES ROB REINER’S ‘TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME’ FOR DIRECTOR’S DEATH

The president’s post in a nutshell: Reiner bad, had it coming, Trump good, Golden Age here, rest in peace.

If there’s any cosmic retribution here, it’s that Trump’s gloating gave Reiner the last laugh. In the end, Trump turned out to be everything Reiner said he was.
