President Obama shopped at Best Buy today, purchasing a couple of video games for his daughters. According to pool reports, one of the games was Just Dance 3 for the Nintendo Wii.
President Obama, however, has not been kind to the gaming community in the past.
For Father’s Day this year, Obama asked fathers to “encourage his child to turn off the video games and pick up a book; to study hard and stay in school.”
“These video games are raising our kids,” Obama said during a 2008 campaign rally, criticizing poor communities for allowing their kids to play too many video games.
During a 2009 speech to the American Medical Association, Obama encouraged parents to start, “raising our children to step away from the video games and spend more time playing outside.”
Of course Just Dance 3 is designed for kids, and a case could be made that it encourages exercise for children.
