Rep. Mark Walberg, R-Mich., asked Attorney General to compare the leadership failure and response in Operation Fast and Furious to that in Penn State University sexual abuse scandal.
“What’s the difference between the case of Joe Paterno at Penn State and the Justice Department under your leadership?” Walberg asked Holder during the House hearing this morning. Walberg pointed out that “Joe Paterno [was] a legend in his sport, and yet he was unceremoniously fired,” whereas an assistant deputy attorney general “continues in his current position even though Fast and Furious has had deadly consequences.”
Holder refused to discuss Joe Paterno and Penn State, but he did respond to another of Walberg’s comments. “The notion that this was an operation set up to do something to impinge on the second amendment rights is absurd,” he said.
