CNN reports that President Obama will leave Martha’s Vineyard tonight, ahead of Hurricane Irene.
That’s a day earlier than he was expected to leave and return to Washington, DC, but the president’s family will remain at Martha’s Vineyard until Saturday.
“I think the president simply reached the conclusion that it would be more prudent for him to be in Washington, D.C., and to be at the White House at the end of the day today,” White House spokesman Josh Earnest said.
The president issued an audio address earlier today, warning the nation to prepare for the “historic” storm and listen to local authorities regarding evacuations.
