New Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger does not mind if immigrants who illegally reside in her state commit multiple crimes, including murder. In fact, she wants to roll out the red carpet for them.
Abdul Jalloh, an illegal immigrant with 30 prior arrests, allegedly stabbed to death a woman in Fairfax County, Virginia. His rap sheet includes the following: “rape, malicious wounding, assault, identity theft, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, assault, and pick-pocketing.” To normal people, this seems to be exactly the sort of person who should be deported to anywhere else on the planet (or thrown into a prison cell for the rest of his life).
IS ABIGAIL SPANBERGER’S VIRGINIA THE NEW CALIFORNIA?
To Spanberger, this is a valued member of Virginia. She is refusing to hand him over to the federal government to be deported when Virginia inevitably releases him. She is demanding that the federal government present a judicial warrant to facilitate his deportation.
Judicial warrants are the new Democratic strategy to facilitate open borders. As our Washington Examiner editorial explained in January, “This means the only way Immigration and Customs Enforcement or Border Patrol could arrest an illegal immigrant is if he or she first committed another federal crime.” Jalloh’s alleged slaughtering of a woman at a bus stop is a state crime, not a federal one, meaning Spanberger is actively blocking his deportation, as there is no discernible federal crime that could result in a judicial warrant for Jalloh.
In Spanberger’s ideal Virginia, she is going to let Jalloh’s fate be decided by Steve Descano, the pro-criminal “prosecutor” who serves as Fairfax County’s district attorney. Descano was the one who dropped charges against Jalloh before the stabbing, loosing him to the public again despite his mile-long rap sheet. If (or when) Descano goes soft on Jalloh again, he will be put back out onto the streets, because Spanberger does not want to see him deported.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE ‘REFORM’ DESTROYS TRUST IN THE JUSTICE SYSTEM
That is what the Democratic Party has become now. Spanberger and her fellow Democrats would rather keep alleged murderers and career criminals such as Jalloh in the country than see any immigrant living without legal permission get deported, and so that is what Spanberger (and Descano) have chosen to do.
Spanberger and her fellow Democrats want to protect illegal immigrants from deportation more than they want to protect the public from being murdered. That is what Virginia voters chose to embrace when they elected Spanberger, and that is what voters will be getting across the country whenever and wherever they choose to elect Democrats.
