New Hampshire Republican John Sununu lost reelection to the Senate in 2008, but as with many Republicans drowned by the Democratic tidal waves in 2006 and 2008, Sununu’s family finances are improving. Akin Gump, a K Street lobbying firm, just announced:

That sounds like Sununu will be a “non-lobbyist lobbyist,” like Tom Daschle: he will advise clients and other lobbyists how to work Capitol Hill, but Sununu himself won’t work the Hill. In the press release, Sununu sounds like he intends to play defense, so to speak: “Today, it’s more important than ever for firms to understand the business and economic impact of changes in the regulatory environment.  I look forward to working with Akin Gump’s bipartisan team to help clients assess those impacts, and respond effectively.”
