Democrats seem a bit concerned about the electoral consequences of their late-night vote on health care. Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Chairman Robert Menendez, N.J., sent out a fundraising e-mail today throwing up red flags:
While every Democrat voted for the bill, every Republican stood opposed. The GOP now is taking the fierce fight it waged on health reform to each of our Senate races. We must win every last election to keep our majority. Without that majority, we won’t be able to build upon this historic legislation.
Even before they voted for a health care bill that is opposed in the polls by 61 percent of Americans, Democrats face increasingly grim prospects in 2010 Senate races. Republicans are hoping to make gains in such states as Connecticut, Nevada, Arkansas, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Colorado, and Illinois.
Update: Oh, and don’t forget North Dakota, based on today’s Rasmussen poll.
