Orszag! Don’t leave us!

Peter! WHY?   (ap photo)

The blog is inconsolable. No, don’t even bother. Chocolate chip ice cream and frosty vodka tonics won’t work this time. We are sad. Here is why: Peter Orszag….is…leaving!!!!

Says ABC News:

Office of Management and Budget director Peter Orszag will leave the Obama administration in the next few weeks, Democratic sources familiar with the situation tell ABC News.

The administration declined to comment, but Orszag was director of the Congressional Budget Office for two years before becoming OMB in January 2009. Eighteen months is approximately the median amount of time for the OMB director position, and Orszag is said to want to move on, having served in his position during the passage of the $862 billion stimulus bill and the nearly $1 trillion health care legislation.

You know, there are not a lot of laughs around the Obama administration. Peter Orszag and his perplexing, complicated love life, brought something substantive to the table — something beyond his inscrutable flow charts, incomprehensible budget projections and disconcerting blog posts on the GDP. And now he is leaving! And you know who they want to replace him with? Gene Sperling.
