Afghan strategy next week!

Obama looks relieved, but Singh is not so sure….. (afp)

President Obama will (finally) share his plans for Afghanistan in an address to the nation, possible on Dec. 1., but that is unconfirmed.  Beltway Confidential still suspects Sunday night — but it’s all speculation around here today.

“After completing a rigorous final meeting, President Obama has the information he wants and needs to make his decision and he will announce that decision within days,” White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said in an e-mailed statement.

Any guesses on what he’s going to say? Obama within the hour will hold what is being billed by the White House as a joint presser with visiting Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. But they are only doing one question each from the Indian and American press.

Still, the fact that he has a decision but isn’t announcing it yet guarantees the administration more of those leaks they are so un-fond of. As a colleague at the White House said, “drip, drip, drip,” for at least another week.
