Late results from last night’s primaries in Alabama:
* Another incumbent has become a victim of 2010. Rep. Parker Griffith, R-Ala., who switched parties in order to avoid defeat, fell in last night’s primary after receiving an unexpectedly small 33 percent of the vote. Mo Baker, his victorious opponent, finished with 51 percent of the vote and managed to avoid a runoff.
* Incumbent Attorney General Troy King, R, lost his primary, 60 to 40 percent, against Luther Strange, R.
* Martha Roby, national Republicans’ favored candidate to take on Rep. Bobby Bright, D-Ala., fell about 2,200 votes short of the 50 percent she would have needed to avoid a July 13 runoff.
* The GOP governor’s primary will go to runoff, but there could be a recount first to see who got second place. Bradley Byrne finished first with 28 percent, and his two top challengers finished 140 votes apart.
* Rep. Artur Davis, D, was pummeled last night, despite being favored to win the Democrats’ nomination for governor.
