During a press conference Tuesday afternoon, Gov. Chris Christie announced that he would call for a special election to fill the seat left vacant by the passing of Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J.
Christie set the election for Oct. 16.
When asked by reporters about the cost of a special election, Christie responded. “I don’t know what the cost is and I quite frankly don’t care.”
Christie added that the people of New Jersey deserved an elected representative in the U.S. Senate.
“We’re not going to be penny-wise and pound-foolish around here,” he added.
