Just a couple of minutes ago a crowd of, I estimate, 150 OccupyDCers passed 25th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, preceded by a couple of police cars and followed by four mounted policemen and five or six police cars. (One was unmarked and it was unclear to me if it was an official car. The crowd held up printed signs–whichsuggests a union was behind this–and chanted, “Corporate greed has got to go.”
Police cleared the westbound lanes of Pennsylvania Avenue for the demonstrators; no sign of violence.
I once saw Pope Benedict XVI take the same route. Some might say the sublime has been followed by the ridiculous.
