Where the DCCC is spending: Rescuing Rodriguez

Published October 6, 2010 4:00am ET

The DCCC has really kicked its spending up a notch, burning through $5 million over the last three days. In addition to keeping up the fight in a number of districts where they seem (or seemed) likely to lose, the DCCC is retreating to the next tier of districts — those considered less vulnerable — and hammering Republican candidates with negative ads. They have become involved in PA-12, where they are defending Mark Critz, D, the victor of a special election this spring. They are now defending Rep. Bill Owens in NY-23, Scott Murphy in NY-20, and Ciro Rodriguez in TX-23.

Weeks after announcing they were pulling out of AZ-1, they are back, pouring in tons of cash against Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick’s opponent. Kirkpatrick is being hit by a devastating NRCC ad that shows footage of her turning her back on constituents and leaving her own town hall meeting.
