Mother Jones and Think Progress managed to record part of the Koch-organized event in Vail, Colorado. One of the things they got were the names of 32 Koch friends and associates who gave at least a million dollars to the right-leaning political organizations allied with the Kochs.
Two thoughts:
1) Go through those 32 names. You’ll probably recognize the names of exactly two companies (Cintas and Charles Schwab). This confirms what I’ve said before, that bigger, publicly traded companies are less likely to embrace free-market politics, while entrepreneurs and family businesses are more likely to be free marketeers. (As a side note, here’s me criticizing Schwab for using government regulation to profit.)
2) This reminded me to figure out how to upload the audio of my own speech before a similar group. I spoke at a lunch at the Koch-organized conference in January. I spoke on condition that my own remarks would be on the record. Dave Weigel blogged my transcript of the conclusion of my remarks at the time. Above is the full audio.
