As the House Democratic leadership struggles to find the votes to pass, by hook or by crook, the Senate health care bill—Majority Whip Jim Clyburn’s statement to McClatchy Newspapers that leadership they may put off the vote until after Easter April 4 is a pretty clear indication the votes are not yet in hand–the always insightful William Galston reminds us on his New Republic blog that the real problem facing government in the years ahead will be the unsustainable burden of federal debt. Galston is, as always, very much worth reading.
