I don’t know who writes John Kerry’s fundraising e-mails. Whoever it is, he has a pretty lousy track record. Today’s special comes in the form of an email — subject line: “Deep End” — about how Republican candidates for Senate are all right-wing fringe lunatics.
You know who he talking about — people like former Sen. Dan Coats, R:
Dear David,
I’ve said it once and I have to say it again: the Republican Party seems to have gone off the deep end and is being taken over by the far right wing.
What do I mean? Well, one candidate takes issue with the 1964 Civil Rights Act, another suggests bartering chickens for checkups, and a third would privatize Social Security at a time when millions are out of work. For good reason, those ideas have already been consigned to the dustbin of history.
Why would we want Rand Paul, Sue Lowden or Dan Coats in the Senate, to risk refighting settled debates over “separate but equal,” and taking us back to bartering and the pre-Great Depression era when seniors were left to fend for themselves?

Dan Coats? Seriously? That’s a pretty weak one, especially with Rand Paul and Sue Lowden providing all the legitimate material you need for a decent email.
Dan Coats wants to make grandma fight her neighbors for dumpster scraps? I suppose that’s blue meat for the unwashed masses, but it isn’t terribly convincing.
