I saw a very offensive Hyundai ad during the World Cup on Saturday, but I couldn’t find it right away on YouTube, so I contented myself with some bewildered head-shaking. Fortunately, an alert reader has sent it in:
I’m struck not just by the blasphemous mockery (seriously? A processing soccer ball in place of the Blessed Sacrament?) but also by the fact that this ad does not come anywhere close to being slightly funny or clever. It’s a cliche heaped on top of a sacrilege.
