The absurd push by activist groups to force women’s sports to accept biological men is about to get a big ally: President Biden and a unified Democratic government.
Democrats have made the “Equality Act” a core part of their platform since bringing it forward in 2019. The bill is a predictably terrible, unscientific attempt to codify gender ideology into law. Among its many problems, that means that schools across the country would be forced to allow biological men to compete in women’s sports.
The biological facts are clear, as are the real world results. In Connecticut, two biological men have won 15 women’s state track championships, breaking 13 individual women’s records. States that have moved to protect women’s sports, like Idaho, have been the target of left-wing activists such as soccer start Megan Rapinoe and the American Civil Liberties Union, who are intent on denying female athletes a fair playing field.
The transgender athlete push will continue outside of school sports as well. Last week, transgender woman JayCee Cooper sued USA Powerlifting for barring her from competition. Cooper, a biological male, maintains that the policy is discriminatory, and she has the support of Rep. Ilhan Omar, a radical Democrat from Minnesota. Cooper says she should be allowed to compete because her testosterone levels are in line with the requirements laid out by the International Olympic Committee, even though there is a minimal decrease in strength and muscle mass in men after testosterone suppression.
This is one of the major cultural battles that the great unifier Biden will be pushing, along with issues such as abortion and “institutional racism.” He’s already promised to make it a top legislative priority for his first 100 days, and with Democrats winning both Georgia Senate runoffs, congressional Democrats are going to make that push. “Unity” will be taking a backseat.
The science on this issue is clear, and some international sports organizations have already moved beyond the IOC’s testosterone level limits. World Rugby banned biological men from women’s rugby after concluding that they were “stronger by 25%-50%, are 30% more powerful, 40% heavier, and about 15% faster” than their female counterparts.
Biden and the “Party of Science” are going to lean hard into the idea that biological men and biological women are exactly the same, all while trying to fill gender and transgender quotas, regardless of qualifications. Biden’s unity tour was always an act, and he seems poised to plunge the country into cultural battles like this one for the next four years.
