On Monday, Editor and Publisher published a lengthy piece — “Have the Media ‘Falsely Framed’ ACORN?” Written by Christopher R. Martin and Peter Dreier, it’s a shameless defense of the corrupt left-wing advocacy group. The bio information for one of the authors was listed as “Peter Dreier, E.P Clapp Distinguished Professor of Politics and director of the Urban & Environmental Policy Program at Occidental College.” Big Government’s Andrew Breitbart notes some important information about Drier was omitted:
Why did Professor Dreier choose to leave out the critical information regarding his advisory relationship to ACORN? Isn’t sitting on an advisory committee of ACORN the definition of a conflict of interest in writing a fair and balanced piece on the organization? In fact, Dreier has been shilling for ACORN at least since 2003.
This is all the more baffling since one of Editor and Publisher’s bread-and-butter topics is journalism ethics. That they forgot to mention such a brazen conflict of interest is shameful.
