This year’s Illinois Senate election is actually two elections — the one to finish Barack Obama’s term immediately after the election, and the one for the six-year term that begins in January.

Currently, Democrat Alexi Giannoulias is slated to appear on both the special and regular Senate ballot in the Illinois race. But Rod Blagojevich’s enabler, appointed Sen. Roland Burris, D-Ill., is demanding the right to appear on the ballot for the last 62 days of the Senate term that Barack Obama won in 2004.
