As the White House looks for a new location to try terrorists, now that New York City has objected, Western Pennsylvania is under consideration. From the Pittsburgh Tribune:
Although we are not dead set against it, we would have to hear two things,” Gov. Ed Rendell said after New York’s top police official said he thinks the trial won’t take place there. “First, why it would be safer for Western Pennsylvania than for New York City; and second, what portion of the cost for security and other things would the federal government absorb?”
Forget for a moment that this trial shouldn’t even be a civilian trial. Let’s see. On September 11, 2001, planes flown by terrorists into New York City killed 2,605 people in the Twin Towers and on the ground. In Pennsylvania, where one plane was crash landed, only the passengers of the plane were killed. Population density appears to be a factor.
