Today’s town hall meeting in Portsmouth, N.H. offers a perfect example of why Obama is faring poorly in the polls with his efforts to convince Americans on his health care plan. He keeps making promises he cannot keep (such as “You’ll be able to keep the coverage you have”) and saying things that do not appear to be true (such as his assurances that the plan will not increase the deficit).
Asked about the possibility of his health care plan leading ultimately to a single-payer system, President Obama said, “I have not said that I was a single payer supporter.”
Considering that he was caught on tape in 2003 stating, “I happen to be a proponent of a single payer universal health care plan“, this is rather difficult to accept at face value.
You might even call it “disinformation.”
