Morning Joe: Cain a fad like Perry, Trump

Herman Cain shouldn’t have to worry about lack of attention from the moderators in tonight’s debate. Charlie Rose, PBS host and moderator of tonight’s GOP debate showed a particular interest in Cain during his appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe.

With Joe Scarborough parodying the presidential field’s pandering to early primary states, Rose turned the tables on his hosts and asked for their thoughts Cain. Have you guys been talking about Herman Cain this morning?” Rose asked. “What’s your take [on him]?”

“I think he is this month’s Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann and Donald Trump,” Scarborough responded in an answer Rose summarized as the “not Romney” explanation. Scarborough added that Cain “is the non-Romney candidate and we keep getting those every month or two now.”

Which candidate should worry more that Scarborough is correct? Cain, the candidate dismissed? Or Gov. Rick Perry, R-Texas, who was relegated to Donand Trump status? Or former Gov. Mitt Romney, R-Mass., who struggles so much to broaden his Republican primary appeal that Herman Cain and Donald Trump can steal the spotlight, however briefly?
