Democratic attorneys general show their party's grisly priorities

“State attorneys general are now on the map as taking the lead when it comes to Democratic values,” stated Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum, co-chairwoman of the Democratic Attorneys General Association.

By “Democratic values,” of course, she meant abortion. If that strikes you as an odd litmus test for an organization run by law enforcement officials, then you haven’t been following the Democratic Party over the past two years.

The Democratic Party can apparently tolerate deviations among its candidates on tax cuts, spending cuts, endless war, corporate handouts, and just about anything except for laws that extend protections to the unborn. DAGA is, at heart, a fundraising entity for political candidates, and it is now catering to a Democratic fundraising base that is primarily concerned with protecting and subsidizing abortion. Planned Parenthood was DAGA’s No. 2 source of funds, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

It is unfortunate, but not surprising that DAGA will now refuse to back Democrats who are insufficiently zealous about taking the lives of the unborn. The Democratic National Committee and its chairman, Tom Perez, briefly took the same stance before recognizing it was folly.

But since Democratic attorneys general brought up their “values,” we would like to remind the world what sort of public servants these cops-cum-politicians really are. When they aren’t sexually preying on their staff with weird fetishes, their main preoccupation is to behave like dictators, using lawfare to oppress those with whom they have political or value disagreements.

This is why Sen. Kamala Harris, as California’s attorney general, colluded with Planned Parenthood to retaliate against the undercover investigators who exposed that organization’s trafficking in the body parts of aborted fetuses. Her successor, Xavier Becerra, launched a criminal prosecution over something undercover journalists routinely do when exposing political and corporate corruption. Not only did this set a dangerous, anti-First Amendment precedent, but it also (surely by design) prejudiced the civil lawsuit that Planned Parenthood just won. But it’s worth it to these Democrats, so long as abortionist benefits.

Using the prosecutorial power against political foes and to enforce its own morality is what this group does.

Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson waged a crusade against Barronelle Stutzman, a Christian florist. He distorted facts that were in plain evidence in order to falsely accuse her of bigotry. “If Ms. Stutzman sells flowers to heterosexual couples,” Ferguson said while siccing the state government on her, “she must sell them to same-sex couples.” Of course, Ferguson knew Stutzman sold flowers to same-sex couples because the same-sex couple whose wedding Ferguson would force Stutzman to participate in were Stutzman’s regular customers.

The Democratic attorneys general apparently see it as part of their job to smash conscience rights of religious minorities. But mostly they see their job as protecting the abortion industry, including Planned Parenthood’s lucrative and grisly partnerships with biotech companies in search of freshly killed humans.

Democrats pretend to stand for certain values when it comes to criminal justice. They talk of mercy and due process. They talk of civil liberties.

When you see the way they treated Stutzman, though, you realize what they really stand for. And now, with their public litmus test, they have made it crystal clear.
