Biden’s border crisis is boosting Communist China and Mexican drug cartels

As U.S. Customs and Border Protection have been overwhelmed processing illegal migrants invited by President Joe Biden into our country, Mexican drug cartels have flooded the southern border with deadly drugs, laundering the profits back to Mexico with the help of Chinese money men.

Mexican drug cartels have done business with Chinese companies for years. First, they imported fentanyl into Mexico, and more recently, they’re importing fentanyl’s precursor chemicals.

The cartels then finish making the drug and smuggle it north across the United States border.

Even before Biden’s border crisis, this deadly, international smuggling operation was already largely responsible for a 30% spike in overdose deaths in the U.S. in 2020. But now that Biden has dismantled President Donald Trump’s border security policies, including the Remain in Mexico policy, migrants from around the world are flooding the southern border and overwhelming border patrol.

Instead of admitting error and moving to keep out illegal migrants, Biden has instead moved to process and admit them more quickly. As a result, more keep coming — breaking new records for border apprehensions every month and further burdening border agents.

Drug cartels not only know the border patrol is overwhelmed from processing migrants, but they also know how to use it to their advantage. They drop off hundreds of children at the border in the dead of night.

When border patrol agents are forced to deploy resources to process them, they race across the border with fentanyl.

In fiscal 2020, border patrol seized 4,776 pounds of fentanyl. In just the first eight months of fiscal 2021, they have seized 7,450 pounds.

Far, far more of the lethal drug is getting into the country.

Now, Chinese companies and Mexican drug cartels are integrating even further, with cartels depositing money in Chinese businesses in the U.S. that serve as fronts for money laundering operations. The profits are then transferred to China before finding their way back to Mexico.

China’s totalitarian Communist regime certainly knows these drug manufacturing and money laundering operations are going on. The manufacturers are often subsidized by the government. Being totalitarian, it could shut down Chinese involvement quickly if it wished to.

But it doesn’t, and it has a growing reputation for using “gray-zone” operations to weaken and influence strategic targets. What better way to weaken and destabilize America than killing its citizens with deadly drugs and degrading its border security?

The Biden administration must identify new ways to confront China’s concerted efforts to influence U.S. policy and undermine our national security. But the first and easiest thing Biden should do is secure the southern border by turning off the migrant magnet and reinstating the Remain in Mexico policy.
