The reversal of Roe v. Wade ends an era in American politics, during which an elective medical procedure to kill one’s baby was treated as a sacred cow, outside the realm of democracy. It also puts the shoe on the other foot for those who have been screaming about “our democracy” for months now. Roe’s reversal, by sending the question of abortion back to the states, is a restoration of democracy.

The Constitution, which obviously is silent on the subject of abortion, will no longer be treated as an impediment to states’ legitimate interests, which was even invoked in Roe itself, in protecting innocent human life from destruction.
