War Secretary Pete Hegseth and Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, are giving updates on the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran at a press briefing.
The two military leaders have provided frequent updates on Operation Epic Fury since its start on Feb. 28. The operation has been the most intensive air campaign of the 21st century, with initial estimates of roughly 1,000 sorties per day.
Over the weekend, Iran announced that former Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s son, Mojtaba Khamenei, would be the next supreme leader of the country after his father’s assassination. U.S. and Israeli strikes have continued unabated, and oil prices have begun to rise over the de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

President Donald Trump warned on Monday evening that the U.S. would strike Iran “TWENTY TIMES HARDER than they have been hit thus far” if they impeded the flow of oil through the sea lane.
The press conference is scheduled to start on Tuesday at 8 a.m.
